And.. of course the best part of the evening was getting a copy of CheapEats Ottawa. Oh! I am still reading it page by page as we speak. The highlights for me in the book, was to have Sammy’s Pizzeria mentioned in the book. ...

Lex is the publisher, editor, and brain behind the CheapEats books. The CheapEats Ottawa book was launched yesterday. A very handy guide to eating well and eating cheap in this city of ours. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. ...

Cheap Eats Ottawa - Version 2!
By Lana
Last night was the book launch for the new version of Cheap Eats Ottawa. The new version has lots of familiar Ottawa foodie institutions and plenty of new reviews. Like pho. Seriously, there are a lot of pho places around these days. ...

Eat good food. And read about places recommended by me! (along with a ton of other lovely people with equally as awesome opinions on where to eat in our fair city). Good times were had by all at tonight’s CheapEats Ottawa Launch. ...

Just a quick note, the "bartender" at the event was actually founder Steve Beauchesne.  (Guess you should have worn that silly nametag after all ;->)

Book Launch Day!

This morning I'm up early, way too early, so I don't sleep through my interview with tic on CKCU - listen live around 8am.

Today is busy, we're talking to media and building some buzz... I spoke with Ron Eade from the Citizen last week, I'm doing another interview at the launch, and yesterday I visited with Gay Cook who writes the food column in the Citizen.

We're delivering books to , , , , and Harry's Deli.

Not to mention, getting ready for tonight's party... er... I mean .  I can't wait and hope to see you there!

CEOT-174x240We have finally nailed down a release date for the new edition of - it will be available in bookstores on February 13th.

CEOT EcoStatement

AFF-logo  This year we decided to formally explore printing options for the new edition of .  It's been a very interesting process and today I got the EcoStatement from the printers for the new edition. (Availability date coming soon too!!!)

Based on estimates made using the , we've saved:

  • 19 Trees
  • 26,843L of water
  • 14million BTUs
  • 775kg gases
  • 413kg solid waste

COOL!

Space for Notes or Out of Town Restaurants?

You know we are finishing the new edition of .  It looks great and it's informative, funny and tempts you with tasty dishes.  As Fin said, "When I was proofreading this, my mouth started to water."Notes

However, I have an interesting situation which has arisen.  In our constant attempts to keep costs down we are actually going to have a couple more pages than we strictly need, even with the couple of extras we are throwing in for you this time. (I know, it seems backwards, but trust me more pages=cheaper book.)

That means, we have to decide what to do with these extra pages.

Should we:

  • leave them blank for you to take notes, doodle or make paper airplanes?
  • give you some blank restaurant forms, so you can include your new finds, restaurant ratings and suggested dishes?
  • give you a sampling of ?

I figured there was no one better to ask than you.

What would you like?
